Eczema Association Australasia (EAA) & The LGC Co. Partnership

With Australia having one of the highest incidences of eczema in the world, affecting one in three Australians at some stage of their lives, The LGC Co. strives in many ways to support education, research and raising awareness of eczema and associated skin conditions.

As part of our dedication to improving the lives of people with dermatological conditions, we have partnered with the Eczema Association Australasia (EAA) to assist them in providing support and care to families affected by eczema.

The EAA aim to raise awareness about this skin condition to improve and broaden the availability of medical treatments and supplies for eczema sufferers and support families through education and care.

Some of the key components of their mission include:

Support

EAA talk to eczema sufferers daily, offering a friendly voice who can help manage their own, or a loved one’s skin condition. They are a non-judgemental support network available to discuss the difficulties and impacts of this debilitating condition.

Awareness

The EAA run ‘Eczema Awareness Week’ each year in May. Eczema Awareness Week is an opportunity to raise awareness and discuss this skin condition that affects so many Australian and New Zealand lives.

Knowledge

The EAA is one of the most sought after eczema organisations in the Southern Hemisphere and remains one of the first stops for information on eczema in Australasia. They work with health providers to share knowledge to better serve sufferers and provide up-to-date information. In 2020 the EAA published a research report that draws on 25 years of research on the impact of eczema. Access to the full report is available on the EAA’s website.

Progress

The EAA aims to raise awareness about eczema to improve and broaden the availability of medical treatments and supplies for eczema sufferers. To improve the quality of eczema care they meet with medical students each year to provide information about the management of the skin condition and EAA’s initiatives. Strengthening awareness will help tomorrow’s healthcare professionals gain a better understanding about the effects of eczema and its impact on individuals and their families.

The LGC Co.'s sponsorship will ensure the EAA is able to fund essential research studies, increase public awareness, broaden available treatments and ensure medical professionals are continually up to date with information on how best to facilitate specialised care for eczema patients.
